Professor at São Paulo School of Economics (EESP), Eliana Anastácia Cardoso, is the Honored Economist of this edition of the 2013 Economist of the Year Award - Excellence in Economics for her work collection.  Granted by the Order of Brazilian Economists (OEB), the award has been recognizing, for more than 50 years, the professionals and students that stand out for their contribution to the economic development of the country by suggesting critical and innovative analyzes for the national Economy.  PhD in Economics by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Eliana Cardoso is full professor at Tufts University, in the United States, and visiting professor at MIT, Yale, Georgetown and also at USP. At the World Bank, she has worked as a Lead Economist in China and as Chief Economist in South Asia, and as a Secretary of International Affairs at the Ministry of Finance of Brazil and Counselor in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).  Eliana Cardoso has also written more than 100 articles in professional journals in Brazil and abroad and she is the author of books such as Latin America's Economy: Diversity, Trends and Conflicts - which in 1992 was granted the honorable mention of the Association of American Publishers -, Economic Fables and Mosaic of the Economy.  In addition, the professor is a columnist of the newspaper Valor Econômico and writes several opinion articles for newspaper Estado de São Paulo.  The prize ceremony of the Economist of the Year award will take place today, at 6:30 pm, in Rosa Rosarum, in São Paulo - Brazil.
