On August 6, the Center for Technology and Society (CTS) at FGV's Rio de Janeiro Law School (DIREITO RIO) will hold the regional conference Internet Frameworks and the Internet Draft Bill: Challenges in Brazil and Abroad, which will be attended by CTS's professors and researchers, as well as representatives of one of the largest centers of international research on the internet and society - the Global Network of Interdisciplinary Internet & Society Research Centers (NoC).  The opening of the event, at 10 am, will be carried out by Rio de Janeiro Law School's director, professor Joaquim Falcão, and by the director of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet & Society (HIIG), Wolfgang Schulz. Right afterwards, the federal deputy rapporteur of the Internet Draft Bill, Alessandro Molon, will be present at the plenary session Digital Democracy, Human Rights and the Brazilian Demonstrations.  CTS's researcher and one of the organizers of the event, Peter Belchior, explains that the specialists will analyze the Internet Draft Bill from an international perspective, and with this vision, focus on the recent demonstrations throughout the country. Just like in the Snowden case, we will listen to experts from renowned research centers in the world, he adds.  Throughout the day, panels, round tables, and lectures will be carried out.  Still according to Belchior, the event is of utmost importance to strengthen our ties with the most relevant international centers of research in CTS' area of operations. Events such as this are essential tools for the internationalization of the CTS, Rio de Janeiro Law School and FGV, he says.  The conference is open to FGV's students, professors and employees. The event will be held in English, at FGV's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. Registration ends on August 4.  To access the program and register, please click here (page in Portuguese) ?
