Professor at FGV's Rio de Janeiro Law School (DIREITO RIO), Melina Rocha Lukic, defended today, on July 8, a thesis about the Brazilian tax reform, at Sorbonne University, in France. In the study, issues such as federal conflicts and the different interests of the players that prevent progress of the matter were highlighted. One of the narrators of the thesis, Professor Olivier Dabène of Science Po Paris, said that this work will be an unquestionable benchmark in the area. The thesis was guided in cooperation by professors Yves Surel (Univ. of Paris II) and Ubaldo Balthazar (Univ. Federal Santa Catarina). The research focused on an analysis of tax reform processes in Brazil after 1988 from theories of public policy analysis. Melina got the highest possible score and had professors Michel Bouvier (University of Paris I), Olivier Dabène (Science Po), Carlos Quenan (Univ. Paris 3) and Philippe Bezes (CNRS-CERSA) as members of her examination board.
