This week, from July 8 to 12, FGV's Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) professor, Kaizô Beltrão, will participate in two seminars organized by the Luso-Brazilian Studies Department at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS), in Japan. In partnership with professor Sonoe Sugahara, Kaizô will talk about the Progress of Access to Basic Infrastructure Services 1980/2011 and the Current Brazilian Population Portrait. The first topic addresses the evolution of some basic infrastructure items in Brazilian households during the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, with regard to services that are essential to the proper functioning of households - the availability of electricity, general water supply, own bathroom at home, direct access to sewage system or via septic tanks and garbage collection. The second addresses the significant changes that occurred in the Brazilian population throughout the twentieth century, which expand into the present century, such as the decreasing mortality and the decline of fertility rates. Kyoto University of Foreign Studies is known for its multicultural focus on languages ??and cultural exchange programs. The university's motto is Pax Mundi per Linguas - World Peace through Languages.
