Last week, Fundação Getulio Vargas welcomed the president of École des Dirigeants & Créateurs d'Entreprise, from Paris (EDC), and the Chairman of the Richemont group, Alain Dominique Perrin, to sign a cooperation agreement with the French school, recognized for its excellence in undergraduate degrees and MBAs in sports management and luxury marketing.

The agreement will allow study weeks and visits in France and Brazil, besides the possibility of exchange programs among professors, undergraduate and graduate students in these and other areas of study. We are advancing in academic studies and research in fashion and sports, two very promising areas of economic importance to the country. The union of the two also shows the development of a human being oriented to related activities, reflecting a metropolitan trend typical of Rio, an important fashion and sports region in Brazil, said the event organizer and professor at FGV, Eduardo Marques.
The agreement is part of FGV's policy of internationalization of experience exchange opportunities and business prospects for the students with the rest of the world, in a pioneering initiative of bringing together the luxury marketing, fashion and sport sectors. The latter two are already an integral part of the courses offered by FGV.

The founder and coordinator of the academic course of Business Management for the Fashion Industry at FGV, Paula Acioli, defines the signing of the cooperation agreement as an important milestone in the academic and business history of Rio's fashion, as well as a great incentive for future actions between these two fashion segments internationally. The timing could not be more favorable, because the whole world is watching Rio and the lifestyle of the cariocas (how the people of Rio de Janeiro are called). The interest is mutual and the opportunity of exchanging experiences among French and Brazilian students will be a rich experience both from an academic as well as a professional and personal point of view, says Paula.

FGV, along with FIFA, already offers the Sports Management, Marketing and Law course. The course coordinator, Peter Trengrouse, said the signing of the agreement also highlights the intimate relationship between the luxury and sports market. This partnership opens the possibility for FGV students to learn more about this market and its relationship with the sport, exemplified by the development of products inspired by sports and luxury brands sponsorships to the Olympic Committee, the CBF and FIFA.
