FGV welcomes registrations for South School on Internet Governance

SSIG is an itinerant seminar held in different cities and countries of the American continent every year.

FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) is accepting registrations for the South School on Internet Governance (SSIG), until January 15. The initiative stems from a partnership between Direito Rio’s Center for Technology and Society (CTS) and the Centro de Capacitación en Alta Tecnología (CCAT – LAT), based in Argentina.

SSIG is an itinerant seminar held in different cities and countries of the American continent every year. This is the main Internet governance training event in the region, and the latest edition was held at the main office of the Organization of American States, in Washington D.C.

The main goal is to train future Internet Governance leaders, focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean. Participants will discuss Internet governance with Brazilian and international experts.

The central theme of the 2017 SSIG will be ‘Sustainable Internet Governance,’ dedicating five days to analyzing different aspects related to cyber security, privacy, Internet access and infrastructure expansion, impact of ‘sharing economy’ platforms, and new business models, among other subjects.

The ninth edition of the South School on Internet Governance (SSIG) will take place from April 3 - 7, at FGV’s main office in Rio de Janeiro (Praia de Botafogo, 190).
