Investing in Brazil meeting held in Japan

The international meeting discussed the recovery of the Brazilian economy and attraction of foreign investment in the country.

FGV Projetos, in partnership with the Brazilian embassy in Tokyo, held the fourth edition of the ‘Investing in Brazil’ international meeting, discussing the recovery of the Brazilian economy and attraction of foreign investment in the country. The event was held on March 6, at the main office of the Brazilian embassy in Tokyo, bringing together a select group of Brazilian and Japanese experts, authorities, and investors.

In addition to the president of Fundação Getulio Vargas, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, the director of FGV Projetos, Cesar Cunha Campos, the director of FGV’s Center for Global Economics and former president of the Central Bank of Brazil, Carlos Geraldo Langoni, and Brazil’s ambassador in Japan, André Corrêa do Lago, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Caixa Econômica Federal, Mizuho Bank, the public-private fund Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development, and companies Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, NTT Docomo, Mitsubishi Corporation, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, among others.

FGV’s president, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, kicked off the event speaking about Brazil’s geopolitical position from the point of view of investors, providing strategic insight into the investment opportunities and challenges in the country. The director of FGV Projetos, Cesar Cunha Campos, emphasized the gradual recovery of the economy and the great moment to invest in Brazil. Carlos Geraldo Langoni highlighted the end of the recession and called attention to investment opportunities in the infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, and oil & gas industries.

In addition to encouraging closer relationships with global players, the Investing in Brazil initiative seeks to expand the knowledge of international investors about Brazilian economy, promoting interest in the country and creating new opportunities for economic restructuring. The previous editions of Investing in Brazil were held in New York (U.S.), London (England), and Cologne (Germany).
