Social Impact Report: Learn about FGV’s contributions that are driving Brazil’s development
Fundação Getulio Vargas has just launched its 2023 Social Impact Report, which sets out the institution’s main studies and initiatives in society last year. FGV, which is ranked the third best think tank in the world, has been working for years to bridge the gap between academic and scientific knowledge and public policy.
Through its specialized research centers, FGV carries out studies that guide the creation and evaluation of government policies, as well as research on social inequality, poverty, education and health that is used to make improvements to the quality of life of the Brazilian population.
As the report highlights, the actions carried out by FGV permeate the areas of innovation in public and budgetary policies, sustainability and the green economy, social inclusion and development, national defense and security, global productivity and cooperation, and technology and artificial intelligence.
Here are some key figures illustrating FGV’s activities in 2023:
- +20,000 economic indicators produced by FGV;
- 790 Brazilian municipalities benefiting from the InfoDengue system for monitoring arboviruses (viruses that are transmitted by mosquitoes, ticks or other arthropods);
- +1,300 residents of the municipality of São Carlos, São Paulo interviewed in a project related to the local Urban Mobility Plan;
- +200 tuition fee scholarships granted;
- +200 students received financial aid;
- Construction of five submarines at Itaguaí Naval Complex in Rio de Janeiro overseen by a monitoring program implemented by FGV;
- Guide produced on implementation of ethical AI governance in organizations;
- +550 online content creators interviewed to assess the sector’s impact on Brazil’s economy and job creation.
