2nd International Seminar on Post-Abolition Stories in the Atlantic World

About
In 2018, we will reach the 130-year mark of the abolition of slavery in Brazil. The date articulates a series of meanings attributed, questioned and disputed by different social subjects of the past and the present; offering sufficient reasons for holding wide public debates about it. The scenario also allows reflections to go beyond the rigid limits suggested by the May 13 chronological framework, as well as go beyond the specificities of the Brazilian national experience.
Facing this challenge, the Emancipations and Post-Abolition Working Group (GTEP) of the National History Association (Anpuh), created in 2013, is pleased to invite undergraduate and graduate students, teachers and other researchers to participate in the II International Seminar on Post-Abolition Stories in the Atlantic World. The meeting will take place between May 15 and 18, at FGV's main office in Botafogo.
