2023

In 2023, FGV won the prestigious CAPES - Elsevier Award, which honors Brazilian scientific institutions with relevant contributions to global socio-economic development.

The award was in the Health and Well-being category of the 5th edition of the CAPES Elsevier Award (2023).

The award, a joint initiative of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel and the Elsevier publishing house, aims to recognize and encourage the advancement of science and scientific development in Brazil.

On 19/12/2022, Capes released the results of the Quadrennial Assessment 2017-2020. A total of 4,512 stricto sensu postgraduate programs (master's and doctorate) across the country were evaluated. FGV maintained its position of international relevance. Of the 10 academic and 11 professional programs, 5 academic programs reached the level of excellence (world class) and 5 professional programs got top marks.

The program is ahead of renowned international institutions and is the only Brazilian program among the best. FGV EPGE ranks 1st and FGV EESP 2nd in the RePEc (Research Papers in Economics) index in Brazil. The ranking was built based on the production and citation of researchers' articles, measuring productivity and impact in academic research. IDEAS-RePEC is a bibliographic database dedicated to the economics sector and is an integral part of Research Papers in Economics (RePEc), an association that brings together more than 1 million research papers from various countries, with a focus on development in the area in various aspects.

 

 

Global Go To Think Tanks Rankings

The Getulio Vargas Foundation is among the best think tanks in the world for the tenth year in a row. This is according to the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, published by the University of Pennsylvania.

In this edition, FGV was ranked 3rd, among the three best think tanks in the world, as well as being considered the best think tank in Latin America for the twelfth consecutive year. The institution was also voted the best-run think tank in the world for the fifth year in a row.

FGV also stood out in several other categories in the ranking. In ten of them, it ranks among the 10 best think tanks on the planet, as the 3rd best center for regional studies; 4th in social policies; 6th in best multidisciplinary research; and 10th in two categories: greatest impact on public policies and best think tank in international development.

The school received the maximum score (100.0) for knowledge production and stood out for internationalization and diversity (97.2). FGV EAESP is the only Latin American school to feature in the relevant PitchBook Universities Report, which ranks the world's universities that have produced the most entrepreneurs who have raised venture capital for their businesses. According to the magazine, the Foundation is among the five educational institutions with the best MBAs outside Europe and the United States.

In 2022, FGV won the prestigious CAPES - Elsevier Award, which honors Brazilian scientific institutions with relevant contributions to global socio-economic development.

FGV won in two of the six categories of the 6th edition of the CAPES Elsevier Prize (2022):

  • Scientific Production Cited in Public Policies

The award, a joint initiative of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel and the publisher Elsevier, aims to recognize and encourage the advancement of science and scientific development in Brazil.

On 19/12/2022, Capes released the results of the Quadrennial Assessment 2017-2020. A total of 4,512 stricto sensu postgraduate programs (master's and doctorate) across the country were evaluated.

FGV maintained its position of international relevance. Of the 10 academic and 11 professional programs, 5 academic programs reached the level of excellence (world class) and 5 professional programs got top marks.

Socially relevant research, teamwork and continuous improvement are the guidelines for academic excellence at FGV.

The National Student Performance Exam (Enade) assesses the performance of undergraduate students, both entrants and graduates, in relation to the syllabus of the courses in which they are enrolled. The exam is compulsory for selected students and an indispensable condition for issuing transcripts. It was first administered in 2004. FGV EPGE has for several years been ranked as the top economics department in Latin America by the Tilburg University International Ranking of Economics Departments (in the Tilburg criteria and full list of journals).

FGV EPGE ranks 1st and FGV EESP 2nd in the RePEc (Research Papers in Economics) index in Brazil. The ranking was built based on the production and citation of researchers' articles, measuring productivity and impact in academic research. IDEAS-RePEC is a bibliographic database dedicated to the economics sector, and is an integral part of Research Papers in Economics (RePEc), an association that brings together more than 1 million research papers from various countries, with a focus on development in the area in various aspects.

The Getulio Vargas Foundation is among the best think tanks in the world for the tenth year in a row. This is according to the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, published by the University of Pennsylvania.

In this edition, FGV was ranked 3rd, among the three best think tanks in the world, as well as being considered the best think tank in Latin America for the twelfth consecutive year. The institution was also voted the best-run think tank in the world for the fifth year in a row.

FGV also stood out in several other categories in the ranking. In ten of them, it ranks among the 10 best think tanks on the planet, as the 3rd best center for regional studies; 4th in social policies; 6th in best multidisciplinary research; and 10th in two categories: greatest impact on public policies and best think tank in international development.

The University of Pennsylvania's ranking has been drawn up since 2006 by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program and takes into account more than 11,000 think tanks around the world. The complete material is available on the Global Go To Think Tank Index website.

The OneMBA at the Getulio Vargas Foundation's São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP) has been chosen as the best executive MBA in Latin America and is among the 55 best in the world, according to the Executive MBA Ranking 2019, carried out by the Financial Times newspaper.

The program is ahead of renowned international institutions and is the only Brazilian program among the top 55. Offered entirely in English, the OneMBA is developed by FGV EAESP, in partnership with EGADE Business School Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), Rotterdam School of Management (Netherlands), University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School (USA) and Xiamen University Business School (China).

Based on interviews with business school alumni from all over the world, the Financial Times ranking evaluates items such as the salary increase after graduating, career progression, the number of students from other countries, PhD students and gender diversity. Every year, ANPEC holds the National Selection Exam for candidates for the master's degree courses in Economics offered by its member or associate centers. The objectives of the Exam are to evaluate the academic qualifications of the candidates and to provide the centers with the results of the evaluation.
