3rd Public Sector Accounting & Data Analytics Colloquium and 3rd Workshop for Young Researchers in Public Sector Accounting

About
The Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE), in partnership with Rutgers University and the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, will host the “3rd Public Sector Accounting & Data Analytics Colloquium and 3rd Workshop for Young Researchers in Public Sector Accounting” on June 13. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the 12th floor auditorium of FGV’s main office in Rio de Janeiro.
The Colloquium will address the growing demand for transparency and accountability within the management of public resources, which renders public auditors responsible for providing guarantees regarding the performance of programs and the financial status of public entities, ensuring its resources are spent appropriately.
In this edition, the novelty will be two open classes on data analytics techniques, taught by Rutgers professors: One on text mining and the other on data visualization. Each class will last for 90 minutes and feature a presentation by the professors on the fundamentals of these techniques.
The event will also include a lecture by the Laboratory for Data Science Applied to Governmental Control and General Controllership of the City of Rio de Janeiro, which already applies advanced data science technologies to governmental control analytics.
Finally, there will be a session dedicated to present and discuss ongoing academic research in the topic. Participants will discuss research projects that use data analytics for big data analysis in the context of public sector accounting, governmental control and public sector finances, or which propose the use of data analytics for the public good, such as blockchain.
Created to disseminate ideas, promote innovation and research, the entire event will be broadcast in real time to the following institutions: UFPA, UnB and UFBA. Local audiences will have the opportunity to interact with the lecturers and the audience at FGV’s auditorium.
