Event held to open up personal archives of Jorge Zahar, an important name in the social sciences
As part of celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the founding of FGV CPDOC, the school’s Archive Center announces the opening up of the personal archives of editor Jorge Zahar (1920-1998).

On March 31, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Social Sciences (FGV CPDOC) is holding an event to officially open up the personal archives of Jorge Zahar, a prominent social sciences editor at publishing company Zahar Editora. This public event will take place at 2 pm in FGV’s main building.
As part of celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the founding of FGV CPDOC, the school’s Archive Center announces the opening up of the personal archives of editor Jorge Zahar (1920-1998), donated by his family in January 2020. After three years of meetings, organization and classification work, these archives will be freely available to the public as of March 2023.
To mark this moment, FGV CPDOC is holding an event featuring two discussions to examine the life story of Zahar and the research potential offered by his personal archives, in relation to both Brazil’s editorial history in the 20th century and memories of social sciences in the country.
