FGV’s Laboratory for Sports Studies (LESP) and FGV Cineclube, both belonging to FGV’s School of Social Sciences (CPDOC), will hold, on April 25, at 2:00 p.m., the screening of the film “Nada nos para: o filme. Apoiar e alavancar o clube sempre em primeiro lugar” (“Nothing Can Stop Us: The Movie. Supporting and Leveraging the Club Always Comes First”), followed by a debate with directors and supporters of Duque de Caxias Futebol Clube. The event will be held in room 1012 of the FGV Headquarters (Praia de Botafogo, 190, Rio de Janeiro, RJ)
Directed by Jerson Pita and Igor Goular, the film brings testimonials from fans and players of the Baixada Fluminense club, established in 2005, and discusses the passion for a football club. In 2008, with just three years, it achieved a meteoric rise and went on to compete in Série B of Campeonato Brasileiro (Brazilian Football Championship). It encountered structural problems that caused it to fall as rapidly as it had risen. It came close to bankruptcy, but with the strength of its fans, it is now attempting to restructure itself to pursue bigger goals. Currently, it plays in Série B1 of the state championship of Rio de Janeiro.
