Global alliance hosts debate on the Stockholm Statement

FGV and the International Development and Public Policy Alliance (IDPPA) will host the conference titled ‘Beyond Economics: The Stockholm Statement and Setting Global Policy Priorities’, from October 25 – 26.  The event will be held at FGV’s Cultural Center (Praia de Botafogo, 186. Rio de Janeiro), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Based on the Stockholm Statement of November 2016, the conference encourages academic reflection on themes related to GDP growth, macroeconomic stability, inclusive development, and environmental sustainability. The event will also discuss the impacts of technology and global economic inequality, social norms and attitudes, and their relationship with economic models, market equilibrium, government and society, and the formulation of global policies, as well as the future of multilateral solutions.

IDPPA is a global alliance between nine institutions from Brazil, China, Russia, India, South Africa, Turkey, Egypt, Malaysia, and Thailand created to bring together scholars and professionals from major emerging economies to collaborate in the fields of research, education, and political action. The member institutions are schools that offer rigorous training in global development and analysis of public policies for the next generation of policy makers.
