On June 21, the House of Representatives in Brasilia held a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Social Sciences (FGV CPDOC). Employees, professors, students and other stakeholders came together to celebrate the school, a leader in preserving Brazil’s historical records.
The session, proposed by federal representative Luiza Erundina and presided over by fellow federal representative Talíria Petrone, recognized FGV CPDOC’s exemplary dedication and activities over the last five decades. During the event, the institution’s efforts to preserve the country’s historical memories, as well as its unwavering commitment to academic excellence, were praised.
“By documenting and handling information related to contemporary history, FGV CPDOC helps separate the true from the false, improving the orientation of our actions,” Erundina said. “It is undeniable that FGV CPDOC’s five decades of activities should be celebrated in this house, given the value of the institution and its researchers, and above all its scientific knowledge, research, education and preservation of records in the ongoing process of building our country.”
The event reaffirmed FGV CPDOC’s collective commitment to high-quality research, knowledge production and the safeguarding of Brazilians’ memories.
