IPEA selects FGV researchers to contribute to ‘Challenges of the Nation’ project
“The project brings together experts to analyze and propose improvements across various areas. In the tax field, the idea is to diagnose issues and present the framework of a reform project to improve the country’s tax system,” said professor Melina Lukic.

Under the goal of building a framework of public, economic, and social policies that allow Brazil to double its real per capita income in the next few decades, the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) has selected a group of experts to contribute across different fronts of the ‘Challenges of the Nation’ project. Among them are FGV researchers and professors whose works stood out among others.
Samuel Pessôa, a researcher from the Brazilian Institute of Economics (IBRE) ranked first in the ‘Macroeconomic Policy’ category. Professors Carlos Ragazzo (Rio de Janeiro Law School – Direito Rio) and Alketa Peci (Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration – EBAPE) took the first and second places in the ‘Regulatory Risk’ category. The ‘Tax Reform’ category featured the works of José Roberto Alfonso (IBRE), who will be assisted by economist Vilma Pinto (IBRE), and Melina Rocha Lukic (Direito Rio).
“The project brings together experts to analyze and propose improvements across various areas. In the tax field, the idea is to diagnose issues and present the framework of a reform project to improve the country’s tax system,” said professor Melina Lukic.
With an inherently practical and applied approach, the IPEA Challenges of the Nation project also aims to guide strategic processes for developing public policies in various areas over the coming decades, in order to assist policy makers.
