Lecture on soccer heritage and memory hosted in Goiás
The event will disseminate published and ongoing research studies related to Sociology in Sports.

School of Social Sciences professor, Bernardo Buarque, and researcher Daniela Alfonsi (USP and Museu do Futebol [Soccer Museum]), spoke about the memory and heritage of soccer at Universidade Federal de Goiás [Federal University of Goiás] (UFG) on April 10, at 3 PM. The lecture is part of the Colloquium titled “After the sporting mega-events: a review of sports research in Brazil,” which gathers researchers to discuss the legacy of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.
The theme of the presentation is “Soccer, memory and heritage & Territórios do Torcer [Territories of Fandom] – an analysis of the deployment of two Oral History projects for the Soccer Museum’s collection.” The event will disseminate published and ongoing research studies related to Sociology in Sports as well as memory and heritage, besides integrating the fields of Sociology, Museology, Public Policy and Cultural Heritage, promote partnerships and encouraging research on the subject.
Fernando Segura Trejo, from UFG’s Sociology Department, spoke about social inclusion in sports on March 30, in Rio de Janeiro. During an event hosted by the School of Social Sciences (CPDOC), Trejo presented his paper titled “Between the 2014 World Cup, the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and the Eurocup in France: a follow-up on the events and the agenda of social inclusion through sports.”
