Multidisciplinary debate on digital education and research to be held at international conference
The 2018 Digital Humanities Conference will be held in Mexico City, from June 26 - 29.
A diverse space for dialog on digital education and research, which brings together professionals from the social sciences, arts, literature, history, information science, computer science, among other fields. That is the definition of the “2018 Digital Humanities Conference”, organized by the Digital Humanities Organizations Association along with The College of Mexico, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Digital Humanities Network (RedHD), to be held from June 26-29 in Mexico City.
FGV’s School of Social Sciences (FGV CPDOC) will participate in the event, which for the first time will be held in Latin America and in the Global South. The idea is to encourage the crossing of cultural, technological, political and ideological borders towards the creation of a truly transnational and inclusive digital humanities community.
During the event, the Dean of FGV CPDOC, professor Celso Castro, and advisor Juliana Marques will present a research on Computational Social Sciences in Brazil. The Coordinator of the Personal Archives Program, Renan Marinho de Castro, will introduce a research on the use of the VOSviewer software as a tool for bibliometric analysis in the production of Digital Humanities.
The first Digital Humanities Conference was held in 1989 at the University of Toronto, Canada. Since then, the conference grew to include more organizations and has been held in several cities around the world. Attendees are pioneers in their respective fields, working with textual data mining, spatial analysis, electronic publishing, document encoding, new media and multimedia studies, digital libraries, and interactive games, among others.
