FGV’s Department of Public Policy Analysis (DAPP) will hold the panel “Launch of the #observamigração platform: impact of migratory flows in Brazil” on November 22. The event will be held at FGV’s Main Office (Praia de Botafogo, 190. Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro/RJ), starting at 9:30 a.m.

The Migratory Flow and Demographic Simulator tools will be launched at the event, making information collected and processed during the research project “Assessment of the Potential Impact of New Migratory Flows to Brazil” public and accessible. These digital platforms offer, respectively, a panorama on the entry of foreigners in Brazil and the departure of Brazilians from the country, in addition to the economic and demographic impact of international migration to Brazil.

The President of FGV, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, the Vice President of FGV, Sergio Franklin Quintella, and the Director of the DAPP, Marco Aurelio Ruediger, will open the panel. The panel will also include DAPP researchers Danielle Sanches and Wagner Oliveira; and Cedeplar/UFMG researchers Cássio Turra and Simone Wajnman. The DAPP Research Coordinator, Ana Guedes, will be the mediator.

“On several occasions, the country had a significant contribution from immigration encouraged by the State. With the recent advances in legislation, we think there is a huge opportunity for Brazil to become more receptive to immigration and leverage it for technical and cultural progress”, said Marco Aurelio Ruediger, Director of the DAPP.
