This public event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on June 29, at 6 pm.

The path toward a fairer and more inclusive society requires comprehensively and deliberately tackling racial issues. In this context, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) is holding a webinar called “Racial Issues in Brazil: Themes and Challenges for Evidence-Based Research”. This public event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on June 29, at 6 pm.
The event will look at how society can reduce inequalities of access to essential public goods and services, as well as how we can increase representation and encourage the participation of racial minorities in politics.
In this webinar, several specialists in this field will explore key subjects and challenges for evidence-based research, discussing how this approach can contribute to a better understanding of racial issues in Brazil.
Among other aspects, the event will look at how well-designed public policies can help combat racial inequality in the areas of education, health and political representation.
The guest speakers will be Alexandre Rabelo, a professor at FGV RI and researcher at FGV EESP and the Institute for Health Policy Studies (IEPS); Alysson Portella, a researcher at Insper; Michael França, coordinator of Insper’s Center for Racial Studies; Rafael Tavares, a researcher at the University of Sao Paulo; and Rony Coelho, a researcher at IEPS.
