Webinar debates social activism and bureaucracy in Brazilian health
What are relations like between civil society, bureaucrats and public policy implementers in the health sector in Brazil? What role do elected politicians have in the provision of services in this area? Can informal agreements between activists and bureaucrats be successful, and under what conditions? These are some of the questions that will be explored during the webinar.

Jessica Rich, a political scientist at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the author of “State-Sponsored Activism: Bureaucrats and Social Movements in Democratic Brazil,” will be the guest speaker at an event called “Social Activism and Bureaucracy in Brazilian Health,” to be held by FGV CPDOC on April 20. During the meeting, Rich will present the results of her research on the subject alongside Professor Sérgio Praça of FGV’s School of Social Sciences (FGV CPDOC).
