Webinar marks launch of book, “Fascism in Green Shirts: From Integralism to Neo-Integralism”
On July 14, FGV Press will hold a meeting featuring authors Leandro Pereira Gonçalves and Odilon Caldeira Neto to debate and launch their book, titled “Fascism in Green Shirts: From Integralism to Neo-Integralism.” The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 6 pm. It will also feature journalist Octavio Guedes, who wrote the book’s foreword.
As in the book, written by the authors in a fluid and accessible style, in the webinar the participants will present the path of integralism and the foundations of neo-integralism, together with historical background information and the latest information on this movement, which will help the event’s participants and the book’s readers to understand Brazil’s current circumstances.
Leandro Pereira Gonçalves and Odilon Caldeira Neto, professors at Juiz de Fora Federal University’s History Department, together with journalist Octávio Guedes, will hold a special webinar to discuss the history of fascism in Brazil, from its origins with Plínio Salgado, Gustavo Barroso and Miguel Reale up to the most recent incidents, such as the attack on producer Porta dos Fundos at Christmas 2019.
The book will be available on FGV Press’ website in e-book format and its print edition will be available through a special presales arrangement.
