The Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) was the venue on March 17 for the 5th meeting of culture managers from Rio de Janeiro. This event, initiated by the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of the State of Rio de Janeiro, with support from FGV Projetos, assembled managers from 75 municipalities to discuss current public policies in the sector.

Aimed at promoting continuous and collaborative dialogue to develop more effective public policies aligned with the population’s needs, research findings were presented, and discussions were held regarding the cultural policies in place, focusing on experience sharing and enhancing actions. During the opening session, speakers discussed culture’s role as a driver for building an inclusive and comprehensive cultural policy that generates employment, income, and opportunities for all state citizens.

Danielle Barros, Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of RJ: "We are at the house of an excellent partner, FGV, which is measuring our actions' indicators. In addition to Culture, we stimulate a creative economy that is vibrant and needs measurement to demonstrate whether the work is effective, indicating new paths and ways to improve."

Aureo Ribeiro, federal deputy and member of the Culture Committee of the Federal Chamber of Deputies: “The greatest challenge is to guarantee opportunities for the entire state population, with public policies that engage youth, strengthen them, and aid in combating violence”. He stated that the studies and indicators provided by FGV support arguments for implementing new public policies in the sector.

Luiz Carlos Duque, Executive Director of FGV Projetos: "FGV recently celebrated its 80th anniversary, always focusing on public policies and tracking our society's changes. The culture sector is experiencing a very timely moment, clearly demonstrating its potential for social transformations that can improve our population's lives."

The opening panel also included: Roberta Martins, Secretary of Culture Committees at the Ministry of Culture; Tales Gomes, President of the State Council for Cultural Policy of RJ; Leonardo Edde, President of RioFilme; and Luiz Gustavo Barbosa, Executive Manager at FGV Projetos.
