The Digital Humanities Lab (LHuD) of FGV’s School of Social Sciences (CPDOC) will host the 1stInternational Congress on Digital Humanities in Rio de Janeiro, from April 9-13. The event will be held in partnership with the Digital Collections Preservation and Management Lab of Unirio. During the meeting, participants will discuss the impact of information technologies, communication networks, and the digitization of collections and processes in the everyday life of individuals, and their effects on local and global societies and institutions, particularly within Brazil’s reality.                                                                                                                                                       

The meeting will bring together researchers and professionals in the fields of Humanities and Data, Computing, and Information Sciences, among others. The panels include international personalities and members of the Brazilian community of researchers with projects in sectors such as digital collections, media and  text technologies, network analysis and viewing, digital games, cyber-democracy, and open data. The goal is to discuss the implications for the production and dissemination of knowledge.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at FGV’s main office in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.
