Professor Rubens Penha Cysne, of Fundação Getulio Vargas’ EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE), has just launched his latest book, titled “Brazil 1982-2019: A Collection of Articles in the Field of Economics.” The book, published by FGV Press, presents a series of articles by the author published in the Brazilian press between 1982 and 2019.
Many of the articles feature macroeconomic analysis, while others have a broader approach, involving ideas that link the social sciences and economics. The articles in this collection are divided into the decades covered – the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s – in line with date of publication in the press. There is also an index categorizing the articles by major themes, including tax, social security, regulation, monetary policy and exchange rate policy.
The articles also address topics such as stabilization plans, economic reforms, the balance of payments, poverty, inequality, growth and inflation, including the evolution of inflation and attempts to tame it between 1982 and 1994, as well as Brazil’s seven different economic plans.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the book was initially launched in eBook form and it is already available on FGV Press’ website, as well as in Brazil’s main online stores. The print version will be launched once the critical social distancing period is over.
