A survey conducted by Toluna, a company that supplies real-time insights about consumers, in partnership with the Finance Research Center (FGVcef) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration, involving 835 people across the country, reveals that 94% of those interviewed are satisfied or very satisfied with Brazil’s new payment system, PIX. In addition, 88% of people said it is practical and innovative, while 80% believe it is secure.

In this survey, the third in a series, 95% of people said they knew about PIX, up from 77% in the first survey. Regarding how they learned about this new means of payment, 68% said from banks, 65% from the media and 35% through their own research.

Of the participants, 77% said they have signed up for PIX, 19% plan to do so later and 4% do not intend to use PIX. Among people who have not signed up for it, 50% have not felt the need and 26% haven’t had time.

According to the survey, 92% of people know what “PIX keys” are. Of those surveyed, 65% have registered their individual taxpayer number (CPF) as a PIX key, while 43% have used their email address, 41% have used their phone number and 28% have opted for random keys. Asked why they have used PIX, 82% said they have transferred money to friends and family, while 51% have paid for products and services.

PIX is a new instant payment method created by the Central Bank, which makes and receives transfers in less than 10 seconds, 24/7, free of charge.
