The director of FGV Energy, Carlos Otavio de Vasconcellos Quintella, was nominated as a member of the Brazilian National Council of Energy Policy (CNPE) to represent the Brazilian academic institution, specializing in energy matter, through the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) Ordinance No. 3, published in the Brazilian Federal Register on December 6.
The CNPE is an advisory body working under the Brazilian President’s office to devise energy policies and guidelines, in addition to recommending measures to be adopted by the administration under technical advisory of regulatory agencies.
Carlos Quintella will join other members of the CNPE for the next two years to promote the rational use of Brazil’s energy resources; ensure the supply of energy to remote areas with difficult access, based on regional characteristics; periodically review the energy matrices within different regions of the country; and set guidelines for specific energy generation programs.
“It is with great pleasure that I accept this mission to represent Brazilian academia, especially at a time when our country is undergoing major changes. I will fulfill my duties with fairness and integrity, which are the hallmarks of FGV, always seeking what is in Brazil’s best interest”, he said.
