DIREITO GV runs debate on the legal profession globalization in Harvard

DIREITO GV attended the meeting ?The Global Legal Profession?, promoted by Harvard Law School, on last April 12th. Ary Oswaldo Mattos Filho, senior professor at the school, was the moderator of the board that addressed the need of a global education for lawyers.The board was attended by Georges-Albert Dal, former President of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe; Akira Kawaura, President of the International Bar Association; and Brad Smith, General Counsel and Senior Vice-President for Legal and Corporate Affairs at Microsoft.Oscar Vilhena Vieira, director of DIREITO GV, was one of the lecturers of the panel ?Globalization of Legal Education: training global lawyers?, moderated by professor David Trubek, from the University of Wisconsin. The board was attended by C. Raj Kumar, director of Jindal Global Law School and Martha Minow, director of Harvard Law School.The board that completed the meeting approached the Government's role in sponsoring the training of a global legal profession, attended by three experts: Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, member of the Supreme Court of Bombay; Nicole Lamb-Hale, USA's Secretary of Commerce for Manufacturing and Services; and Antenor Madruga, partner of the BM&A and former National Secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Justice.According to Frederico de Almeida, undergraduate coordinator of DIREITO GV, who also attended Harvard, the audience's questions indicated that Brazil really gains interest from the international community. ?There were a lot of questions on the entry of foreign lawyers and firms in the domestic markets?, said the coordinator on his Facebook's page.
