EBAPE celebrates its 60th anniversary as a leading reference in administration

This Sunday, the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) of Fundação Getulio Vargas celebrates its 60th anniversary as a leading reference in high quality teaching and training of leaders in the area of public and business administration. Based on its mission, which is to build and disseminate knowledge in such areas towards Brazilian development, and also on its pioneering view that places it as an institution always ahead of time, EBAPE offers undergraduate, master's, doctorate and post-doctorate courses. And they make a huge a difference in the careers of those professionals who choose this institution, since they are structured according to market trends and demands of the globalized world.The School, which always invested in the empowerment of their professionals, knowledge production and research incentives, is comprised exclusively of professors with (PHD´s), who are responsible for the high standard academic output (articles, books, book chapters, etc). Three important magazines for its sector are part of the scope: a RAP - Revista de Administração Pública (Public Administration Magazine)-, Cadernos EBAPE.BR and Revista OIT ? Observatório de Inovação do Turismo (OIT magazine - Observatory of Innovation in Tourism).In the international sphere, the School crossed the borders of continents making partnerships with the main business schools of the world. By means of its own exchange programs, the School generated opportunities for Brazilian and foreign students to learn about cultural, social and economic habits of people from several countries. This way, its brand in the world and credibility as an education institution have become stronger.Over the years, EBAPE has had students graduate, provided advisory services to private companies and public organizations, and took part in the conception and implementation of different specialization courses. It has been making its presence felt in every corner of the country through partnerships with associated education institutions. And today, on its 60th anniversary, the School celebrates the result of decades of dedication to high quality teaching, considered one of the best colleges in Brazil, according to the General Index of Courses (IGC), released on annual basis by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC). HistoryThe Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) of Getulio Vargas Foundation (EBAP/FGV) was created on April 15, 1952, in Rio de Janeiro city, as the first school of public administration in Brazil and Latin America. EBAP was the result of a partnership between FGV and the United Nations to supply the demand for qualified professionals in the public sector in the country.For decades, it was responsible for training leaders who helped to write the history of administration in Brazil, by means of its undergraduate, graduate, master's and doctorate programs, thus working towards the Brazilian development.In 2002, EBAP's name changed to Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), confirming its presence in the private sector, which in fact always took place since its establishment. The School has gained credibility, legitimacy and outstanding capacity to add high level knowledge to its students, introducing them into a productive process of excellence. EBAPE's pioneering view during decades of teaching- First school to offer administration undergraduate course in Brazil and Latin America;- The first Brazilian books of administration were published in the School;- First institution to use the course credit system and individual academic discipline enrollment in Brazil;- First presidency and headquarters of ANPAD - National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Administration;- In 1961, EBAPE's professor and former federal deputy, Alberto Guerreiro Ramos, was the author of the proposal for regulating the administrator profession, accredited by Act no. 4,769, of September 9, 1965.
