Energy solutions for smart cities discussed with Israel Trade & Investment
The idea of the meeting came from a partnership between FGV and Israel Trade & Investment, an agency of the Department of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of the Economy of Israel.

Sharing knowledge to develop specific solutions for smart cities is one of the main goals of the ‘Smart Energy Solutions for Smart Cities’ seminar, to be hosted by FGV’s International Affairs Division (DINT) at FGV’s main office auditorium in Rio de Janeiro, on March 24, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The idea of the meeting came from a partnership between FGV and Israel Trade & Investment, an agency of the Department of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of the Economy of Israel, whose purpose is to foster new opportunities between Israeli and Brazilian companies across multiple industries.
“We will bring together scholars and private sector professionals to discuss solutions that can be implemented under the concept of smart cities. Israel has extensive know-how regarding this subject. That’s why we invited professor Oded Distel, director of Israel NewTech, Israel’s National Water and Renewable Energy Program of the Ministry of the Economy, and one of the most influential people in the field of high technology, to address the topic,” said DINT deputy director and event coordinator, Jorge Barros.
Israel NewTech was conceived to promote water and sustainable energy industries based on their important role in meeting the growing needs of the world. The program is led by Israel’s Ministry of Economy and supported by a number of government agencies. It promotes smart solutions to global challenges in the field of clean technology.
The event will also be attended by professor Bianor Cavalcanti, DINT director, who will address the importance of public administration in the context of smart cities; economist Marco Ristuccia, from FGV Projetos; Bruno Cecchetti, head of the Innovation area at ENEL Brasil, a private company in the electricity industry and leader in the development of renewable energy sources in the country; and Wellington de Jesus, business director at AMRTEC, a state-of-the-art equipment and technology services company, leader in the field of telemetry, operating in the water, energy, gas and automation process industries. The debate will be mediated by Felipe Gonçalves, superintendent of Education, Research, and Development at FGV Energy – Center for Energy Studies.
