The FGV Energy, in partnership with the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, through the State Secretariat of Energy and Economy of the Sea (SEENEMAR), is organizing the 1st Strategic Meeting on Energy Transition. Open to the public, the event will take place on February 26th at 9 a.m. at the FGV Headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.

The main objectives of the meeting are to discuss energy transition in the State of Rio de Janeiro and hold a public hearing for the discussion of strategic guidelines with broad social participation.

The Strategic Agenda for Energy Transition in the State of Rio de Janeiro has identified three major pillars: decarbonization of the state's energy matrix; development of low-carbon energy industries and services; and promotion of a fair and inclusive energy transition. The State of Rio de Janeiro has a diverse energy scenario that enables it to lead the energy transition in Brazil, including natural gas, oil, nuclear energy, solar, offshore wind, hydrogen, biogas, and biomethane.

During the morning, the event will feature lectures and panel discussions on the paths of energy transition in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The speakers will include the director of FGV Energy, Carlos Quintella, the Secretary of Energy and Economy of the Sea of the state, Hugo Leal, the president of the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas, Roberto Ardenghy, the National Secretary of Energy Transition and Planning, Ministry of Mines and Energy, Thiago Barral, among other important figures in the sector.

In the afternoon, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., a Public Hearing will be held with the purpose of gathering input from the society of Rio de Janeiro to define the main strategic guidelines for the elaboration of the State Policy for Energy Transition in Rio de Janeiro.
