Event brings together experts to analyze competitive environment of the Brazilian electricity industry
The event will be held at the FGV 9 de Julho room (Rua Itapeva, 432 – Bela Vista, São Paulo/SP) and will be attended by the Secretary for the Promotion of Productivity and Competition Advocacy (Ministry of Finance), João Manoel Pinho de Mello, among other experts in the subject.

FGV’s Infrastructure Economy & Environmental Solutions Group (GEI-SA) will host the debate titled “Analysis of the competitive environment of the electricity industry in Brazil: Economic and legal standpoint” on August 23, starting at 9:30 a.m. The event will be held at the FGV 9 de Julho room (Rua Itapeva, 432 – Bela Vista, São Paulo/SP) and will be attended by the Secretary for the Promotion of Productivity and Competition Advocacy (Ministry of Finance), João Manoel Pinho de Mello, among other experts in the subject.
The event is divided into two panels. The first will discuss the “Economic outlook on the competitive environment of the Brazilian electricity industry”. The lecture will be led by the Coordinator of the GEI-SA, professor Gesner Oliveira, with João Manoel de Pinho Melo and Kenys Menezes Machado (Deputy General Superintendent of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense – Cade) as panelists.
The second panel is titled “Legal and regulatory outlook on the competitive environment of the Brazilian electricity industry, with comparative international law”. The lecturer will be professor Mateus Piva Adami, from FGV’s Sao Paulo Law School (Direito SP), with commentary by the General Director of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel), André Pepitone, and Fernando Marcato (Direito SP).
The GEI-SA is a study group created to discuss issues related to competition defense, regulation, environmental sanitation and infrastructure, among other topics. The meetings have a multidisciplinary approach, guided by economic aspects. Go to the website to learn more about the event.
