Event debates power sector modernization to tackle crises caused by reduction in consumption

The COVID-19 crisis is affecting the entire domestic economy and the power sector is part of the problem, as it is a leading indicator of trends in economic activity. To discuss this subject, FGV Energy will bring together industry specialists on May 18, at 6 pm, for a webinar called “Energy in Focus: Power Sector Modernization and Resilience – How to Tackle Crises Caused by Large Reductions in Consumption.”
Lower consumption and prices are affecting the whole of the power sector. The main issue now is the need to inject more capital to keep operations balanced. The subject will be debated by Rui Altieri, the chairman of the Power Sales Chamber (CCEE); Elisa Bastos, director of the National Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL); Marcelo Prais, the IT, stakeholder relations and regulatory affairs director of the National Power System Operator (ONS); and João Carlos Mello, the CEO of Thymos. The moderators will be Carlos Quintella, the director of FGV Energy; and Paulo Cunha, an FGV Energy consultant.
