Experts debate challenges and opportunities involved in harnessing unconventional energy resources in Brazil

On July 13, FGV Energy will hold a webinar titled “Harnessing unconventional energy resources in Brazil: opportunities and challenges.” The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 6 pm.

There are numerous challenges entailed in exploiting unconventional energy resources in Brazil. They include transforming the resources into reserves; identifying the volumes potentially available, to optimize energy use; harnessing resources to benefit society, creating jobs and income; obtaining public acceptance for exploration activities and techniques; and navigating the minefield of Brazil’s regulatory, legal and environmental conditions.

To discuss this challenging situation, the webinar will feature Dario Arias (the director of Resources Energy Consulting), Décio Odonne (a former director of the National Oil and Gas Agency, ANP), Eduardo Pereira (of Rede Gasbras), Frederico Miranda (the G&G exploration manager of ENEVA), Keith B. Hall (the director of the Mineral Law Institute), and Marcos Frederico (the oil and gas superintendent at the Brazilian government’s Energy Research Company, EPE). Moderated by Fernanda Delgado (of FGV Energy), these specialists will seek to demystify the exploitation of unconventional resources in Brazil, supported by the REATE Program and FGV Energy’s previous publications.
