FGV EPGE professor elected Honorary Member of Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory
Honorary Members in Economic Theory are selected for their scientific excellence, originality, leadership, high ethical standards, and academic and creative achievements

Professor Humberto Moreira of Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE) has just been elected an Honorary Member in Economic Theory by the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory (SAET).
Honorary Members’ research contributions may span several areas of theoretical economics, including pure and applied research, as well as government service. The main qualification for honorary membership is to have contributed significantly to the advancement of work in economic theory. This achievement may be demonstrated by an outstanding record of publications, service on editorial boards, honors, scientific, educational and professional achievements, or the training of graduate students.

The Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory was founded by professors Charalambos D. Aliprantis, Edward C. Prescott and Nicholas C. Yannelis, with the purpose of advancing knowledge in theoretical economics and facilitating communication between researchers in fields that are potentially useful to economic theory. About Professor Humberto Moreira
Humberto Moreira is a professor at the Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE). His main research area is economic theory, and he has a particular interest in contract theory and regulation. He received the Adriano Romariz Duarte Award from the Brazilian Econometric Society in 2003, 2013 and 2014. In 2023, he won the BM&F Derivatives Prize, awarded by the Brazilian Markets and Futures Exchange. In 2002, he won the first Banco do Brasil UnB Prize, sponsored by Banco do Brasil.
