FGV holds lecture on nuclear energy and sustainable future
Talk was given by renowned director general of Nuclear Energy Agency, William Magwood IV
FGV Energy recently organized a talk called “Nuclear Energy: The Future Is Now.” The event, hosted by the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE) in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, brought together prominent industry names to discuss and analyze how nuclear energy is shaping a sustainable future for the planet and its role in achieving decarbonization targets for the energy sector. The lecture was given by the renowned director general of the Nuclear Energy Agency, William Magwood IV.
During his talk, Magwood addressed topics such as technological challenges in the supply chain and the training of specialized professionals. At the end of the meeting, the guest answered questions about the discussed topics.
Magwood has extensive experience in both the regulation and development of nuclear energy, having been appointed by the U.S. president and confirmed by the Senate to serve as commissioner of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. From 1998 to 2005, he was director of nuclear energy at the United States Department of Energy. Earlier in his career, he worked as a scientist at Westinghouse and the Edison Electric Institute.
