FGV hosts debate to launch booklet on electric cars

FGV Energy – Center for Energy Studies - will host a debate to launch the Caderno de Carros Elétricos [Electric Cars Booklet] on May 24, 2017, at FGV’s main office. The event will promote discussion on how these vehicles can change the Brazilian energy, automotive, and environmental industry.

Concerns about climate change and global warming resulted in the recent formulation and adoption of the Paris Agreement by most countries, including the world’s biggest emitters of greenhouse gases (GHG) – United States and China. The Paris Agreement conveys the message that the world is willing to change the way it generates and consumes energy. Decarbonizing the transport industry is paramount to achieve this goal.

Thus, given the importance of this industry in the achievement of a low-carbon economy, the Caderno FGV Energia – Carros Elétricos [FGV Energy Booklet – Electric Cars] considers the important role these vehicles have on the world’s energy transition.  In addition to discussing their insertion into the Brazilian energy market, the event will bring together opinions from various agents related to the subject, in order to map the challenges and opportunities for this industry’s development in Brazil.

The Booklet analyzes the development of Electric Cars worldwide, considering their impact on the energy, environmental, and automotive industries, as well as on the market and related technologies, in order to contribute to promote the product in Brazil. In addition, this also represents a particularly interesting business model for the entire electric cars chain, which has yet to be implemented in the country.
