FGV participates in public hearing to debate smart meter technology

At the invitation of the House of Representatives’ Mining and Energy Committee, FGV Energy’s research superintendent, Felipe Gonçalves, and its legal consultant, Gustavo De Marchi, took part in a public hearing on December 12. The aim was to debate smart meter technology and its usefulness in combating non-technical power losses.
During the event, Felipe Gonçalves highlighted some of the results of research carried out by Fundação Getulio Vargas, in particular an Integrated Dashboard on Non-Technical Losses and Their Impacts on Power Prices, produced by FGV Energy. Legal consultant Gustavo De Marchi presented his views on the legal aspects that should be considered when analyzing the introduction of smart meter technologies.
The hearing brought together experts and representatives of the sector to discuss and better understand the advantages and challenges related to the adoption of smart meters. The debate was suggested by federal representative Geraldo Mendes (Unity Party, Paraná), in response to Mining and Energy Committee Request 177 of 2023.
