FGV Projetos and Direito GV organize an international congress on justice and governance for sustainability

FGV Projetos and Direito GV, along with the Association of Magistrates of the State of Rio de Janeiro (AMAERJ) are co-organizers of the World Congress on Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability, an event pertaining to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), to take place from June 17 to 20, in Rio de Janeiro.The congress is one of the Rio+20's parallel events, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. Attended by prosecutors, auditor generals, judges and professionals from several countries, the meeting will address the environmental sustainability in the realm of judicial power, besides providing technical and political support on the legal scope of environmental sustainability.During the event, the attendants will have the opportunity to address topics like the future of Environmental Law, the challenges of environmental governance to enhance its effectiveness and new approaches on social justice focused on environmental sustainability. At the end, a declaration with the principles of Justice, Governance, Right to Sustainable Development and Green Economy will be prepared.The document, which will be delivered to the president of the Rio + 20 Conference, has as its purpose to outline future actions capable of not only reprehending and repairing the environmental damages, but also to extend the prevention scope of the judicial power in protecting the environment.
