FGV remains at the top of the Brazilian Ministry of Education national ranking of courses

Acknowledged excellence. The 2017 General Course Index (IGC 2017) published by the Brazilian Department of Education on December 18 ranks FGV’s Schools at the top of the country’s ranking once again. For the third consecutive year, FGV’s Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (EPGE) remained in the lead, followed by Sao Paulo School of Economics (EESP) as the runner-up. FGV’s School of Social Sciences (CPDOC) came in at third place, climbing three positions compared to the 2016 IGC.

Besides the national Top 3 schools, the Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (EAESP), Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), Sao Paulo Law School (Direito SP), and School of Applied Mathematics (EMAp) all received the top mark (5). FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio), in turn, received a score of 4.

“I’d like to congratulate all employees, students, professors and managers of FGV’s Schools for their exceptional work”, said professor Antonio Freitas, FGV’s Deputy Dean of Education, Research and Graduate Studies.

Only 34 of the 2,066 universities, schools and centers in the 2017 IGC received a score of 5. The Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (INEP) of the Ministry of Education (MEC) publishes the IGC annually. The index considers the average grades of each institution’s undergraduate and graduate courses. The index is the result of the evaluation of public and private institutions in the fields of exact sciences, humanities, and biological sciences.
