FGV welcomes Argentina's Minister of Science and Technology

On May 9, FGV's president, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, welcomed Argentina's Minister of of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, Lino Barañao. The Minister's visit is part of the landmark agreement for technical and academic cooperation made between FGV and the Argentine State in April this year.In the morning, the Minister was introduced to FGV Online, where the Director Stavros Xanthopoylos presented its main expansion projects and perspectives. Then there was a lunch event with FGV's president, the general consul of Argentina Marcelo Bertoldi, FGV's advisor Lindolpho de Carvalho Dias, the international director Bianor Cavalcanti, FGV Projetos' technical director, Ricardo Simonsen, IDE's director, Clóvis de Faro, the director of Strategic Planning and Innovation, João Paulo de Andrade, EBAPE's director, Flávio Vasconcellos, the director of operations Mário Rocha, the vice-director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Marlos Lima, and the International Relations manager, Eduardo Marques. During the lunch event, Ricardo Simonsen presented the main technology projects developed by FGV Projetos. In the afternoon, Barañao visited the Leopoldo Américo Miguez de Mello Research and Development Center (Cenpes) ? Petrobras' unit responsible for the company's activities of research, development and basic engineering ? he was introduced to the geology laboratory and watched a brief exhibit about the technological challenges to extract the pre-salt oil. Closing the agenda, FGV's president offered a dinner with prominent Brazilian scientists. Among them, the biochemist and president of CAPES, Jorge Almeida Guimarães, the mathematician and co-founder of IMPA, Maurício Peixoto, and the Physicist and director of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences , Luiz Davidovich.
