Immersive project by undergraduate students is selected by Intact Amazon initiative

A first-semester project by students at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Communication, Media and Information (FGV ECMI) was recently selected by the Intact Amazon initiative. The undergraduate students carried out a project to simulate what the lands occupied by the Yanomami peoples may have looked like before their arrival, using 3D virtual rooms.

The project, called “Yanomami Peoples: An Immersive Experience of History in Reverse,” will be presented on September 5, starting at 3:30 p.m., in Auditorium 418 in FGV’s main building. The students’ initiative aims to take participants on a journey using virtual reality goggles to explore the natural flora of the region occupied by the Yanomami peoples.

The Intact Amazon initiative has selected multiple university student-led projects to take part in a day-long national movement to protect the forests and peoples of the Amazon. On September 5, more than 50 universities will hold activities to raise awareness about this subject. In addition, there are hundreds of organizations throughout Brazil, on both social networks and the streets, aiming to raise people’s awareness about the importance of preserving the Amazon Rainforest.

Venue:
