New dashboard makes it possible to monitor COVID-19’s impact on power consumption
Using this tool, you can help identify the pandemic’s effect on electricity consumption and consequently on economic activity as a high-frequency economic indicator.

On Thursday, October 15, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Center for Regulation and Infrastructure Studies (FGV CERI) is launching a new Regulatory Monitor Dashboard, which will present the enhanced and up-to-date results of its Power Consumption Indicator.
The new dashboard will make it possible to monitor COVID-19’s impact on Brazilian electricity consumption through three versions of the indicator: 1) COVID Indicator, showing weekly moving average power consumption; 2) Monthly Indicator; and 3) Quarterly Indicator.
Using this tool, you can help identify the pandemic’s effect on electricity consumption and consequently on economic activity as a high-frequency economic indicator.
You can also verify the indicator’s relationship to economic activity indicators, such as quarterly GDP and IBC-Br, which are calculated and regularly disclosed by the national statistics agency, IBGE, and the Brazilian Central Bank, respectively.
You can access the dashboard here.
