Online event talks about climate change agenda in Brazil
The Finance and Economics Master’s Program at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) is holding a free online debate on the climate change agenda and its impacts on Brazil’s development. This public event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on May 29, at 6 pm.
The event will feature talks by Paulo Haddad, a former finance and planning minister, who has also worked as an economist and consultant at the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, United Nations Development Program and other public and private sector organizations in Brazil and elsewhere; and Professor Daniel Vargas of FGV EESP, who has a master’s and doctorate in law from Harvard University, and previously served as the Brazilian government’s sustainable development secretary. The moderator will be Professor Márcio Holland, the coordinator of FGV EESP’s Finance and Economics Master’s Program.
In 2015, the United Nations proposed a sustainable development agenda for the next 15 years to its member states. This event will look at a book recently launched by our guest Paulo Haddad, titled “The UN Sustainable Development Goals: Narrative for Building the Future,” published by Caravan. We will have the opportunity to examine the extent to which Brazil has met these goals and whether achieving them can contribute to more sustainable and inclusive growth in Brazil.
