School of Communication receives record applications for professional master’s program
In partnership with Itaú Foundation and Aberje, school’s Master’s in Digital Communication and Data Culture received more than 600 applications from across Brazil

In order to train new professionals, focusing on digital aspects, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Communication, Media and Information (FGV ECMI) recently launched its first professional master’s program. There were more than 600 candidates from 15 states in all five regions of Brazil, of whom 180 made it through to the next stage of the process. Just 30 will be selected to take part in the first edition of the course, receiving full scholarships made possible by a partnership between FGV, the Itaú Foundation and the Brazilian Business Communication Association (Aberje).
Last month, the partner institutions met in Sao Paulo to celebrate the success of the selection process and align the next steps until classes start in September of this year. The meeting was attended by the dean of FGV ECMI, Marco Ruediger; the president of the Itaú Foundation, Eduardo Saron; and the president of Aberje, Paulo Nassar. According to them, the high demand for the master’s program shows the unprecedented nature of the course and changes in the communication sector, which increasingly demands leaders with specific knowledge of the digital environment.
“We realize that the sector is changing and there is a need for professionals to keep up to date with these new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, for example. Our course is a pioneer at this moment. The partnership with the Itaú Foundation and Aberje was fundamental to this successful campaign,” says Ruediger.
With a focus on diversity and social impact, the three institutions’ partnership is working to strengthen education, culture and communication, contributing to the production and dissemination of knowledge, especially in the third sector. The results of the selection process for the Professional Master’s in Digital Communication and Data Culture Program will be announced on August 20 and the classes will start on September 10 in Fundação Getulio Vargas’ main building in Rio de Janeiro.
