Science, technology and innovation minister visits FGV ECMI’s Rio Innovation Week booth
School has booth at event and its professors are taking part in panel discussions and podcasts.

The minister for science, technology and innovation, Luciana Santos, visited the booth manned by Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Communication, Media and Information (FGV ECMI) at Rio Innovation Week, an event taking place between October 3 and 6 at Pier Mauá in downtown Rio de Janeiro. The municipal undersecretary for technology and innovation, Vinícius Wu, also visited the booth on October 3.
On October 4, Professor Anna Bentes participated in a panel discussion called “The cognitive impact of screen addiction and algorithmic thinking” at 2 p.m. She also took part in a podcast titled “Cognitive and emotional impacts of screen addiction” at 4:30 p.m. Professor Alessandra Maia participated in a podcast called “Transitions – Paths to the Metaverse.”
FGV ECMI’s booth also has an extensive program of interactive activities, including a tour of the school’s laboratories via VR glasses, an Instagram-friendly space with a ring light and instant photo printing, and live monitoring of the event’s repercussions on social networks.
In addition, some of the school’s digital communication undergraduate students are also presenting innovative projects developed during their first semester. One of them is a 3D timeline of Yanomami lands and another is a platform for finding the lowest prices for make-up and beauty products. The booth is in Armazém 1 (“Warehouse 1”), Pier Mauá.
Rio Innovation Week, organized by the municipal government of Rio de Janeiro, is the largest technology and innovation event in Latin America.
