Seminar brings together oil and gas sector specialists to debate decommissioning
The seminar aims to promote scientific debate and spread knowledge about the topic. Speakers will include representatives of FGV, the state government of Rio de Janeiro, Petrobras, the National Oil and Gas Agency (ANP) and the Brazilian environmental protection agency, Ibama.

Although Brazil’s main attraction in the oil and gas sector is the upstream area, especially pre-salt deposits, other interesting opportunities are opening up in the country. One of them is the dismantling of offshore production structures, including whole platforms, subsea systems, wells and floating production, storage and offloading units (FPSOs). To discuss this subject, FGV Energy is holding a seminar called “Decommissioning in Brazil: resolutions, opportunities and challenges” on August 5, from 9 am to 5 pm, at FGV’s main office (Praia de Botafogo, 190, 12th floor, Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.
The event is based on the premise that Brazil’s decommissioning industry is in its infancy, and operators, service providers, universities and government officials need to cooperate for their mutual benefit.
