According to the National Water Resource Policy, water management must ensure multiple uses of this resource.

On July 7, 2021, at 6 pm, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Center for Regulation and Infrastructure Studies (FGV CERI) will hold a webinar on FGV’s YouTube channel called “Who Controls Water? The Energy Crisis and Water Resource Management.” The event will focus on discussing Executive Order 1,055 of 2021, issued on June 28, in response to the current water crisis in the Paraná River Basin.
According to the National Water Resource Policy, water management must ensure multiple uses of this resource. Furthermore, the recent executive order that created the Chamber of Exceptional Rules for Water and Energy Management (CREG) enables the adoption of exceptional and temporary measures to optimize the use of water and energy resources to tackle the present water shortage.
The following guest speakers will debate this topic: Gustavo Kaercher Loureiro, associate researcher at FGV CERI; Egon Bockmann, law professor at Paraná Federal University; and Oscar Cordeiro, director of the regulatory area at the National Water Regulatory Agency. The moderator will be Joisa Dutra, FGV CERI’s director.
