Webinar discusses fuel markets in Brazil
One phenomenon with a significant impact on fuel costs is the behavior of companies that form illegal markets.

The recovery in fuel demand in 2021 was accompanied by growing fuel prices, state government revenues and people’s cost of living. As a result of these effects, the federal government and Congress have been looking for a solution. In this context, FGV Energy is holding a webinar called “Supply, Demand, Prices, Supplies and Fraud: Brazil’s Fuel Markets” on December 13, at 6 pm, on FGV’s YouTube channel.
One phenomenon with a significant impact on fuel costs is the behavior of companies that form illegal markets. Fraud, tax evasion and nonpayment affect market competition, reduce the revenues of the state and federal governments, and harm the quality of products, thereby penalizing end consumers.
Tackling these fiscal and operational irregularities is a challenge for all the sector’s stakeholders. FGV Energy and ICL have invited some respected specialists to discuss the impacts of illegal fuel markets.
The speakers will be Ana Mandeli of the Brazilian Oil and Gas Institute, Luciano Liborio of Raízen, Pedro Brancante of Petrobras, Sheyla Oliveira of Vibra, and Carlo Faccio of the Legal Fuel Institute. The moderators will be Fernanda Delgado, a strategic advisor and professor at FGV Energy; Marcio Couto, a consultant at FGV Energy; and Guido Silveira Filho of Ipiranga.
