On November 11, at 10:30 am, FGV Europe will hold another webinar in the “Toward a Just Transition: An Opportunity for Minas Gerais” series. This sixth meeting will address the topic of energy transition and sustainable mining: the global energy transition. This global transition involves the rapid growth of renewable energy sources and requires a revamp of mining strategies. In this context, Brazil and in particular the state of Minas Gerais will have a crucial role to play in global energy transition and sustainable development processes.

The speakers will be Enir Sebastião Mendes, the director of the Mining and Energy Ministry’s Mineral Transformation and Technology Department; Juliano Alves Pinto, the undersecretary for investment promotion and production chains at the Minas Gerais State Economic Development Secretariat; Aksel Krieger, the CEO of BMW Group Brasil; Ana Cabral-Gardner, the chief strategy officer of Sigma Lithium Resources; Rafael Haddad, the executive director of the Federation of German Industries’ Germany-Latin America Business Committee; Eduardo de Albuquerque Ruiz Martins, the mining manager of the Minas Gerais Development Agency (CODEMGE); and FGV Europe Fellow Antônio Carlos Carvalho. The webinar’s moderator will be Marco Savério Ristuccia, a senior economist and coordinator of the “Toward a Just Transition: An Opportunity for Minas Gerais” initiative at FGV Europe.
